Presenting The Draft 2014 New York City Hazard Mitigation Plan

The New York City Office of Emergency (OEM), in partnership with the Department of City Planning (DCP), is pleased to announce the release of the draft 2014 New York City Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The preparation of the HMP demonstrates New York City’s continued commitment to understanding our risk from a range of hazards, and identifying strategies to reduce the effects of these hazards on New York City’s environment. The 2014 draft HMP serves as an update to the 2009 New York City Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The draft HMP is now available for a public comment period beginning December 16, 2013 and ending January 16, 2014. Please submit all questions and comments through the comment form by January 16, 2014. Following the comment period, the draft HMP will be reviewed by New York State and FEMA for approval.

Hard copies of the draft HMP are available for on-site viewing at the five DCP Borough Offices. The addresses are listed below. Comments on the draft HMP may be submitted through completion of the online comment form or at the DCP borough offices:
