Saving Jamaica Bay - Screening @ American Legion Hall - Post 1404 | New York | United States

The Broad Channel Civic Association is excited to bring the award-winning documentary film Saving Jamaica Bay to its home turf in Broad Channel. The Civic Association is hosting this event in conjunction with the Jamaica Bay EcoWatchers, American Littoral Society, and American Legion Hall – Post 1404.

Featuring a cast of Broad Channel residents and narrated by Academy-Award winning actress Susan Sarandon, Saving Jamaica Bay tells the story of the lifeblood of our community – from its long history of neglect to its incredible comeback story. This powerful documentary chronicles the hard work that many of our friends and neighbors have put in to bring the bay back to life. It also explores one of the darkest times in Broad Channel’s history, as we approach the fourth anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. Check out the film trailer here.

Please join us for this very special event, which will feature a screening of the film as well an opportunity to meet the filmmakers. In addition, a wide range of organizations working to improve Jamaica Bay will attend to help answer questions and encourage our community to get more involved.
